Disneyland Paris at Christmas

Disneyland Resort Paris is a great destination for those looking to get away during the Christmas period. Many tourists flock to the destination just outside of Paris, France, meaning crowds can be huge on the days surrounding December 25th. This makes it important for those visiting either of the two parks to ensure they are prepared for their trip.

Special Christmas Events

Disneyland Paris put on a number of special events over the holiday season that can’t be missed when visiting the resort around Christmas time. Firstly, Sleeping Beauty Castle is decorated to fit the season, with thousands of lights that give the iconic structure a simply beautiful look when it gets dark. It’s worth being in Disneyland Park for sunset just to see the lights come on, it’s a breathtaking experience that many guests consider the highlight of their Winter trip.

The Chaparral Theatre in Frontierland is transformed at Christmas into ‘Mickey’s Winter Wonderland’ a show on ice featuring a host of famous Disney characters from past and present. The show is performed from November 8th through January 6th and is highly popular, making it important to get to the theatre well in advance of the show time. The Santa Claus Village, also situated in Frontierland, allows guests to go and drop off their Christmas wish-lists to Santa Claus himself. This is highly popular with younger children so to enjoy this experience be sure to visit as soon as the ‘Post Office’ is open. The Santa Claus village is also interesting to see even without visiting the big man himself. Guest who would like to see the village without visiting Santa Claus can visit any time, it can be a welcome break during the midday crowds.

During the Christmas period Town Square, at the end of Main Street U.S.A, plays host to a huge Christmas Tree. Every evening from November 8th through January 6th the tree is lit up with a huge collection of lights. Whilst the tree lighting isn’t as impressive as the Illumination of Sleeping Beauty Castle it’s still something to see on an evening and is well worth watching. Also on an evening it snows on Main Street U.S.A, something which young children cannot get enough of. Ask a Cast Member about the times for both events.

Disney are famous for their parades and Disneyland Paris pull out all the stops over the Holiday season. During the day guests can enjoy Disney’s Once Upon A Dream Parade, where Santa Claus is joined by a collection of famous Disney characters. When it gets dark Disney’s Fantillusion Parade lights up Disneyland Park, showcasing everyone’s favourite Disney characters on floats covered in various lights. Parade times are often mentioned on park maps, most Cast Members around Main Street U.S.A should also know the times.

Belle’s Village is situated in Fantasyland, covered snow pathways lead guests around the small village where visitors can meet characters from the Disney hit movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’. A great place to visit during any time of the day, if lines are long at Fantasyland attractions this may be an ideal location to take a break, have a stroll and wait for a Fastpass return time. It’s a Small World ,also situated in Fantasyland, is getting a Chirstmas overlay from November 21st through January 6th, a popular attraction not to be missed.

The finale of all the Christmas celebrations takes place on New Years Eve with a huge fireworks display over Sleeping Beauty Castle on the stroke of midnight to mark the end of the year just gone and the beginning of another magical year at Disneyland Resort Paris. Visitors planning on attending the fireworks display should be there well in advance in order to get a good viewing spot.

Disneyland Paris Dining At Christmas

Dining at Disneyland Paris around Christmas time needs a certain amount of planning. Guest who walk up to restaurants during peak meal times without a reservation will often be turned away or asked to wait for a long time for a table. This is why it’s important to make dining reservations when planning on eating at any of the table service restaurants in Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios or at the Disney Village. Not only does this ensure that a table is booked it also allows for a plan for the day to be built around set meal times.

Disney Resort guests can make dining reservations from their hotel room by simply calling reception. Guests who are not staying on Disney property or would like to book further in advance can do so by calling their countries Disney Reservation Number (08448 008 898 UK). It is also possible to make reservations at the restaurant itself, it is advised that reserving a table this way should be done at the start of the day in order to avoid disappointment.

Over the Christmas period Disney are also offering a Christmas dinner buffet, dubbed ‘Mickey’s Magical Christmas Dinner’. The Christmas Dinner is aimed primarily at Children, with characters decked out in Christmas costumes ready to party and dance with guests. The Christmas Dinner only takes place on the 5th, 12th and the 19th of December, reservations are highly recommended well in advance of the day of the meal.
